The Oxfordshire Chilli Festival is a festival of food with a fiery twist – a family friendly, great day out for food – lovers, no matter how hot – or not – you like it! Not only is there a Chilli eating competition and a chance for you to win bragging rights as Oxfordshire’s champion of chilli cooking, this is a day out not to be missed. There’s live music, a very special gig in the evening at the Crown and Thistle, too. We’re raising money for Leah’s Wish and the British Heart Foundation, having a festival of fire in the historic town of Abingdon on Thames, bringing together the most dedicated food chilli businesses in the UK and beyond. We’ve hand-picked the very best chilli artisans from all over the UK and beyond, alongside the finest collection of Oxfordshire’s food drink and crafters – not to forget to mention some amazing street food! There will also be music – not to mention a very special party in the evening (more about that here)
A chilli festival wouldn’t be complete without a chilli eating competition. Darth Naga will be doing the honours – his chilli eating antics are legendary amongst chilliheadz – one of Britains original chilli stuntmen and reviewer of all things fiery at Chilli Fiends, he’s often to be seen on TV with his own brand of chilli madness. If you’re brave enough, you can register your interest to enter on the day here.
The Oxfordshire heat of the UK Chilli Cook Off Association will be held at the Festival. Is your chilli con (or non – veggie or meat, it’s up to you) carne the creme de la capsicum? Is your chilli dish the tastiest in Oxfordshire? Not only is there a £200 prize for the winner on offer, you could ultimately end up in Las Vegas cooking your prize winning dish in the International Chilli Cook-Off Championships.
